Why choose a container Christmas tree

Each year approximately 7 million Christmas trees are grown and sold in the UK unfortunately most end up in a landfill site. Of these 7 million Christmas trees, only 10% are recycled and fewer than 5% of Christmas trees are planted to be re-used next year. Some local authorities have the facilities to recycle Christmas trees and use the bi-products for compost, mulch or wood chippings. So if you choose to buy a Christmas tree online why not consider one in a container or pot that can be re-planted once the Christmas season has finished. Container Christmas Trees have the advantage of not dropping needles and have a lovely Christmas scent. You can then plant them out in your garden, a friend's garden or out in the local woods. You will be helping the environment by choosing a real Christmas tree and doubly helping by purchasing a pot grown Christmas tree. Container grown trees are an environmentally friendly way to celebrate Christmas. These re-usable trees have been grown in their own pots and so have a well developed root system.

When the real Christmas tree is in your house it is important to maintain the tree with regular watering and it is best to avoid placing it near a heat source such as a radiator. Once the Christmas season is over don't plant it straight out into cold soil, but acclimatise it slowly to outdoor conditions.
